high school notebook picture
oh yeah, I also found this picture of my mom and me in that notebook from my previous post, “old poetry”. I don’t have a scanner so I took a picture of the picture using photo booth. Cute, huh?!

Posted under photographyA few months ago I found a notebook of mine from high school. It was a notebook I would take around with me on mission trips, to camps and youth group. Also, I used it as an outlet to write songs and poetry. It’s been interesting reading through these poems that I had so darkly written. They were for nobody but myself. I was definitely in a dark place in my life. However, now that that time in my life has passed and that darkness has been made into light I can share these poems as a celebration of my journey through life. Here’s an example of the most complete one I found.
It’s all in my head,
frustrations and things that have been said.
It seems to keep growing and growing,
there’s always something else
and always something more.
The pain and suffering,
what does God have in store?
I want to see You,
but I don’t.
I want to touch You,
but I can’t.
It’s all so confusing!
what is it keeping me from you?
Maybe I’m just underestimating you…
maybe you’re really there
but I’m used it it.
Or maybe I’ve lost connection
and I really can’t hear you
and it’s impossible to touch you.
Oh, God, I cry…
create in me a clean heart
and renew my stumbling spirit!
This is a true story. Do not try this at home. This film is not suitable for little kids or people who still believe in the Easter Bunny!
Enjoy!

The other day, at the doorstep of the big snow storm, I ventured to guitar center to spend my birthday money. I’m very pleased with what I got. I bought two new pedals for my electric guitar, a Boss TU-2 Chromatic Tuner and a Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde Ultimate Overdrive. I absolutely love the Boss! The best part is, is that it powers all the rest of my pedals. I no longer have a use a big bulky powerstrip on my undersized, home-made suitcase, pedal board.
I was a little leary of the Jekyll & Hyde but I took the salespersons advice and gave it a whirl on a pseudo set-up of my gear. I ended up liking it a lot. I went with the intention to get the Ibanez Tube Screamer. The cool part about the Jekyll & Hyde is that it has an overdrive side and a distortion side. The overdrive side is modeled after the Tube Screamer’s 70’s model (this is the one that everybody tries to get). All in all, I’m very happy with my purchase it has definitely added depth to my electric guitar and I no longer have to use the factory overdrive on my amp.
There hasn’t been a day that has gone by that I haven’t played the Telecaster (which is odd). I’ve really enjoyed it with my new pedals. Who knows maybe I’ll start playing it out a little more!
Posted under music, random thoughtsStorm is a video I made for student gathering at church for our Jonah series. It is video of the ocean while a storm was rolling in over vacation in Myrtle Beach. The text includes Jonah’s prayer from inside the fish and the audio is Lifehouse’s song, “Storm”. I think this song provides an interesting Christocentric lens over the text from the Old Testament.
